John P. Malfettone earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.
John is a Senior Advisor at the Alvarez & Marsal Transaction Advisory Group in New York. He invests in and advises businesses in the real estate technology, procurement consulting, and professional services industries.
Previously, John served for nearly 42 years in senior leadership positions in public accounting, financial services and asset management. He was a Senior Managing Director at Clayton Dubilier & Rice, a top-ten private equity leveraged buyout firm. At Clayton, he also served as Head of Operations, Chief Compliance Officer, and Head of Portfolio Procurement and Risk Manager, working with CD&R-owned portfolio firms to reduce indirect purchasing costs and provide comprehensive insurance coverage.
Prior to that, John was Partner, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Oak Hill Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm. He also spent 12 years with GE Capital in senior management roles, including Corporate Controller, EVP CFO, and Managing Director of GE Equity, running GE’s Commercial Service Business that profitably invested +$1 billion. John served as the EVP and CFO for MacDermid, Inc. and as an Audit Partner with KPMG. He has served on numerous corporate boards, often as chair of audit committees, across a range of industries, including Duane Reade, Juice Plus, Trade-out, Endura, a supply chain software business; TruckLite,; and Service America, to name a few.
John is a member of the School of Business Hall of Fame. He serves on the Advisory Board of LogicSource, a procurement outsourcing/consulting company and chairs the Audit Committee for the Board of Directors of New Mountain Finance Senior Loan Fund. John chairs the Board of the Cardinal Shehan Youth Center in Bridgeport, CT, and is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of the University of Connecticut Foundation.
